Editorial policy

This site is published by Manufacturer Quotes. The company is the publisher of every page and answers for what they say. Pages carry no personal byline and no invented author. The about page gives our address and contact details.

Facts, not opinions, about companies

We say only what a source says, and we show the source and its date. About a named manufacturer we publish facts, never ratings, rankings or reviews, and never free text written by or for the company. We name companies, not people: no owners, staff or contact details. We do not link to a manufacturer's website.

Where we give advice in a guide, it is our advice, stated as advice. Where we describe a rule, a rate or a program, we cite the body that sets it.

Words we do not use

We do not use these words or phrases in our own voice about a manufacturer, a brand or ourselves:

• About a manufacturer, unless we checked that exact fact with the issuer: "vetted", "verified", "certified", "FDA approved".
• On brand supplier pages: "makes [Brand]", "manufactures [Brand]", "[Brand]'s factory", "same factory as", "OEM for", "dupe".
• About ourselves: "matchmaking", "marketplace", "factory-direct price", "no markup", "free for brands", "on your behalf", "your sourcing agent".

A certification scheme's own name, such as an organic or textile standard, may appear when we describe the scheme itself. It never appears as our claim about a listed company unless the issuer's own record shows that company holds it, and then we show the date we checked the record.

We also avoid comparisons that rank named companies, such as the lowest price, the fastest or the largest, and we do not put "top", "best" or "leading" in page titles.

Seller, not middleman

We are the seller: we buy from the manufacturer and sell to the buyer, and our price per unit includes our service and margin. Pages never describe us as a go-between for the buyer or as the buyer's representative. Wherever we show one of our quoted prices, we label it as our price, including our service and margin.

Not affiliated

We are building a directory of manufacturers, and it is not live yet. A company will be listed there because public sources list it, not because it works with us. Every list of manufacturers, and every company page, will carry a line saying the companies are listed from public sources, are not affiliated with Manufacturer Quotes and have not endorsed the page, and that when you request quotes we choose which factories to ask.

Brand supplier pages

Some brands publish lists of the facilities that supply them. We have not published any brand supplier pages yet. When we report such a list, we say only what the brand published and when, in this form: "[Brand]'s supplier list, published on [brand website] and dated [month and year], names [number] facilities in [countries]." Where we report US customs records, we use this form: "U.S. customs records list [shipper] as shipper on [number] ocean shipments to [consignee], [dates]." We never say that a facility makes, manufactures or copies a brand's products, never call it the brand's factory, and never offer a lookalike. Brand names appear as plain text only, with no logos, and each such page carries one quote button for the product category, which names no brand and no manufacturer.

Corrections and removals

• A wrong fact. Tell us through the report an error page. A disputed fact about a company is suppressed within 2 business days while we check it. A company that writes from its own domain may give us a replacement for its own facts, shown as stated by the company to us, with the date.
• A manufacturer that wants to be removed. Email hello@manufacturerquotes.com from the company's own domain, or from an address listed on the company's website. The company leaves every list, including its lines on brand supplier pages, and its page is taken down within 2 business days. It stays off unless it asks to be relisted.
• A brand that wants its supplier page removed. Email us from the brand's own domain, or its parent company's. The page is taken down within 2 business days, and we do not publish it again unless the brand asks.
• A facility named on a brand's supplier page. Email us from the facility's own domain. Its line is removed from every brand page within 2 business days, whether or not it has its own page with us.

A removal stays in place unless the company or brand asks to be relisted, and we do not review whether we agree with it. Corrections to guides and glossary entries are made as soon as we confirm them, and the page's updated date changes when a fact or a claim on it changes.
