Privacy notice

This notice covers manufacturerquotes.com, published by Manufacturer Quotes. It describes what the site actually collects. If that changes, we change this page before the change takes effect.

When you request quotes

The quote form asks about the product, and only your email address is required as contact information. What you send is saved in our database as one request:

• your email address, and your company or brand name if you give it;
• what you want made, and the quantity, target price, delivery destination and notes you choose to add;
• your answer to whether you have made the product before;
• the page you sent the request from, and any campaign tags in the link that brought you to the site (the utm_ labels an advertiser or newsletter adds to a link).

We use it to answer you, to ask factories for quotes and to sell you the goods if you order. Our database runs on Supabase, a hosted Postgres service.

When the request is saved, it is posted to a private channel in our Slack workspace so that we see it and can reply. The post carries your request as you entered it, with a long product description or long notes shortened: your email address, company, product details, target price, postal code and notes, plus the page you came from and any campaign tags in the link. Replies come from our hello@ mailbox, which runs on Google Workspace, so our email with you is kept there.

Limiting repeat submissions

To stop automated floods, the form accepts only a few requests an hour from one internet address. For each accepted request we store the address it came from (for the newer address format, only its network prefix), with the time and nothing else. That record is kept apart from your request and is not linked to it. Only the last hour's records count toward the limit, and records more than a day old are deleted from time to time as new requests come in.

What factories see

When we ask factories for quotes, we send a rewritten description of your product: the specification, the quantity and the destination country. We do not give factories your name, email address, company, brand, website or postal code at that stage, because we ask for quotes in our own name. If you order, the shipping and customs documents for your goods may need your company name and delivery address, and the factory or its freight forwarder will see those.

Analytics and hosting

• Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google details such as the pages you view, your browser and device, and a rough location. Google processes this under its own privacy policy.
• Ahrefs Web Analytics. A script from Ahrefs measures page visits for the same purpose.
• Vercel. The site is hosted on Vercel, which receives each request, including your internet address and browser details, to serve the page, and keeps its own request logs.

You can block these analytics with your browser's cookie and content settings or a blocker, and the site still works, including the quote form. The form's own record of campaign tags uses your browser's session storage, which clears when you close the tab; it is not a cookie. The site loads its fonts from its own server, and we do not use advertising pixels.

What we do not do

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We do not publish your quote requests or your contact details. The one thing we would publish from a message is a correction a company gives us for its own facts in the manufacturer directory we are building, shown as a statement by that company with its date.

How long we keep it

We keep requests and the email about them as business records, for as long as they may matter to a quote, an order or our accounts. If you email us without using the form, we keep your message and address in the same way. If you ask us to delete yours, we will, unless we need to keep part of it for an order you placed or because the law requires it.

Your choices

Email hello@manufacturerquotes.com from the address you used, and we will send you a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also tell us to stop emailing you about a request at any time.

The site is for businesses, and it is not directed at children.
