How it works: we introduce you to manufacturers that fit

What we do

Manufacturer Quotes introduces ecommerce and Amazon brands to manufacturers that fit their request, and it is free for brands. The manufacturers quote you directly, and any order is between you and the manufacturer.

We name every manufacturer we suggest. We share your name and contact details with a manufacturer only if you tell us we may.

We are not a party to anything you agree with a manufacturer. We do not sell goods or take payment for them, we do not act for you or for the manufacturer, and we are not an agent, a broker or an escrow.

From request to introduction

1. You send a request. Use the quote form to tell us what you want made, how many units and where they ship.
2. We look for manufacturers that make it, overseas first. Many products can be made in more than one country, and the price, minimum order and lead time differ between them. We look in countries such as China, Vietnam, India and Mexico first, and in the US when you ask for US-made.
3. We send you the ones that fit, by name. A person reads your request and emails you the manufacturers that fit it, with the public facts we hold on each one. If none fits, we tell you.
4. We introduce you. Tell us which manufacturers you want to hear from, and we introduce you by email. A manufacturer learns about your request without your name or contact details unless you told us we may share them.
5. The manufacturers quote you directly. From the introduction on, you deal with each manufacturer yourself: it quotes you, and any sample, order, payment and shipment is between you and it.

What it costs

It is free for brands. There is no subscription, no fee per introduction and no fee on your order, and nothing is added to a manufacturer's price. We are paid only by manufacturers that choose Featured placement, once we offer it, and wherever a Featured manufacturer appears, it carries the label "Featured, paid placement; editorial review unchanged." Paying never changes who we shortlist for a request. If you told us we may share your details, a Featured manufacturer on your shortlist may receive them sooner than the others.

What to check yourself

We publish dated, sourced facts about manufacturers and show where each one came from. We do not check a manufacturer's quotes, prices, capacity, quality, certificates or compliance, and a suggestion from us is not an endorsement. Before you pay a deposit, check the company, approve samples, and put the specification, price, payment terms, shipping terms and inspection in writing with the manufacturer. Reading the quotes you get

Ask every manufacturer to state its shipping terms as an Incoterms rule and a named place, such as FOB at a named port of shipment, FCA at a named place, or EXW at the factory's door. The rule tells you which costs are inside the price and where the goods, and the risk, pass to you. Then compare quotes from different countries on what each costs landed at your door, not on the unit price alone: add freight, duty and fees to each price before you choose. When you order

• You buy from the manufacturer. The order, the payment terms, the samples and any warranty are between you and it, on the terms you agree together.
• You are usually the importer. For goods made overseas, you, or the customs broker you hire, clear the goods through customs and pay the duties, taxes and fees, unless a quote is on delivered duty paid (DDP) terms.
• Regulated products have their own duties. Children's products, cosmetics, over-the-counter drugs, food and supplements carry legal duties for the brand and the importer. Settle in writing with the manufacturer who tests, certifies, registers and files what.
