Report an error or ask us to remove a listing
Published by Manufacturer Quotes. Editorial policy. Updated .
Email hello@manufacturerquotes.com with what is wrong and where it appears. Anyone can report an error. A request to take something down has to come from the company or brand concerned, and so does a replacement value for a company's own facts: send those from an address on the company's own domain.
What to put in your email
- The page. Copy the web address of the page, or name the guide, term or company.
- The fact. Quote the sentence or the table line that is wrong.
- What is correct. Tell us the right value, and if you can, where it is published: a certificate record, a registry entry or a page on the company's own website.
- Who you are. For a removal, or a replacement value for your company's own facts, your role at the company. Send it from the company's own domain. A manufacturer may also write from an address that its own website lists.
What happens next
Our manufacturer directory and brand supplier pages are being built and are not published yet. The rows about them are the rules that will apply from the day they go live.
| You ask us to | Who can ask | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Fix an error in a guide or glossary entry | Anyone | We check the cited source. If the page is wrong, we correct it and cite the source we relied on |
| Correct a fact about a listed manufacturer | Anyone. Only the manufacturer, from its own domain, can give us a replacement value | We hide the disputed fact within 2 business days while we check it. The company can also give us the correct value for its own facts, which we show as stated by the company to us, with the date |
| Remove a manufacturer from the directory | The manufacturer, from its own domain | Within 2 business days its page comes down and it leaves every list, including its lines on brand supplier pages |
| Remove a brand supplier page | The brand, or its parent company, from its own domain | The page comes down within 2 business days |
| Remove a facility from brand supplier pages | The facility, from its own domain | Its line comes off every brand page within 2 business days, whether or not it has its own listing with us |
For a manufacturer, a message from an address that its own website lists counts in the same way as one from its domain. We may write back to that address and wait for its reply before we act.
What a removal means
We do not argue about removals. We do not ask why, and we do not decide whether we agree. The listing stays off unless the company or brand asks us to put it back.
A correction works differently, because the fact came from a public source. We check the source again. If the source is right and the fact is current, the fact can return with its source and date. If the company gives us its own figure instead, that figure is shown as a statement by the company to us, not as a fact from a public source.
What we do not remove
We do not take down a guide or a glossary entry because a company would prefer it said something else. Those pages describe rules and programs from the bodies that set them. If one of them misstates a rule, report it and we will correct it.
The wording rules we apply to every page are in the editorial policy, and how facts are gathered and checked is in the methodology.
